Weekly News and Updates

4th Grade

Wednesday Message

11/25/2015

I did not send home Weekly Reports this week because it is a short week and conferences begin in a few days, December 1st and December 2nd.  I wish you and your family a great Thanksgiving.

I did not assign any homework over this 7 day break, but some students are anxious to work on their Travel Guide notes so they can begin their slide show on the day we get back from break.  Students may not begin their slide show until I have approved their notes.

Also, this would be a good time for students to practice their multiplication facts, especially if they have not passed their Mixed Facts.

Wednesday Homework

11/24/2015

Reading: Students need to read for 20 minutes in their Reading Counts or Battle of the Books book.  Students with reading folders need to read 10 pages orally, practice their fluency passage, and get a parent signature on their reading folder.

Math: Multiplication Packet (Homework side only)

Last homework assignment for Term 1 :)

Monday Homework

11/23/2015

Reading: Students need to read for 20 minutes in their Reading Counts book.  Students with reading folders need to read 10 pages orally, practice their fluency page, and get a parent signature on their folders.  New reading goals will be announced for Term 2 after Thanksgiving holiday.

There will not be spelling this week, so tonight's homework is a worksheet on Stated Main Idea.

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving with family and friends.  Thank you for your contributions to Ridgeview's canned food drive.

By this time, you should have a conference scheduled with me for December 1 or December 2.  November 30th is a grading day for teachers and a no school day for students.  So, this week is our last opportunity to schedule conferences.  I have also scheduled phone conferences if this is your preference.  If you do not have a conference scheduled, please ask your student for the conference slip that was sent home on November 16, or call me at school to set up a conference.  (541-744-6308)

Thank you for your support.

I have been teaching 4th grade at Ridgeview for over 20 years! One important thing I have learned over the years is EVERYTHING CHANGES :)  And I believe that is an important life skill to learn.  I love my job!  There is nothing better than spending the day with 9 and 10 year olds.  I learn from my students each and every day and pride myself in being a life long learner.  Besides being a 4th grade teacher,  I am a daughter, sister, mother, and am proud to be a grandmother (MeeMee) to 4 beautiful grandchildren under 6 years of age.  I am excited to be starting a new year and I am looking forward to being your child's fourth grade teacher.  We will have a fabulous year!
