4th Grade

Wednesday  Homework

9/11/2013

Reading: Read 15 minutes
Language Arts: Vocabulary Sentences
Please check your student's back pack for an important letter from me attached to the Scholastic Book Order form. It is due before September 27th and is a great way to earn extra bonus points for Room 13.  I have enclosed forms for September and October and will not be sending home any more forms for a couple months.

Tuesday Homework

9/10/2013

Math: Thousands PS4  #9  all problems (Students need to do the problems on the worksheet.)  Parent help is always OK on homework.

Reading: Read 10 pages

If you sent me a note telling me you would like to correct papers at home, your student will be bringing home a folder today for you to look over and read the letter from me.  Please send this folder back to school tomorrow, and you will start correcting the papers next week.

If you expressed an interest in coming in to help in the classroom,  I am still getting that organized, but you will hear from me soon.  I will not be contacting parents about parties until we get closer to November/December.

Monday Homework

9/9/2013

Language Arts: Students need to complete their spelling CCC for this week's words.  The emphasis is on spelling the words correctly and printing them neatly.  Messy papers will be returned to be completed neatly. These will be the words on Friday's spelling test.  Students also need to read 10 pages in a book of their choice.

Happy Friday

It has been a great first week of school!  We are working hard to establish structured routines which will be a part of our school day this year.  I hope you have had a chance to read the Meet the Teacher Night hand out.  Please call me if you have any questions or concerns.  I appreciate all the parents who have offered to help in Room 13.  I will be sending home notes to those parents so that we can get that part of the program started.  We will begin our regular homework routine next week: Language Arts on Monday and Wednesday and Math on Tuesday and Thursday.  Our spelling test will be given on Fridays. I hope you all have a marvelous weekend!

Thursday Homework

9/5/2013

I did in fact assign homework tonight because several students still have not finished their "Who am I ?" beginning of the year writing sample.  We spent time on it in class yesterday and today.  Students need to skip lines and fill the front and half of the back of the page.  They have a page of sentence starters to help them get started.  They do not need to use all of the sentence starters, and they may add ideas of their own.  We will edit the papers tomorrow and write our final copies.

What a fabulous first day of school!  We are having a great time getting to know each other and learning some fourth grade rules and procedures.  This is a great group of students and I am so happy to be their teacher for fourth grade.  I enjoyed meeting many of you last night and look forward to meeting everyone very soon. Please stop bye after school and say "hello" if you have time.

Wednesday: Brown Me Bag Assignment (Letter with details will be sent home today with the blue assignment sheet)

I have been teaching 4th grade at Ridgeview for over 20 years! One important thing I have learned over the years is EVERYTHING CHANGES :)  And I believe that is an important life skill to learn.  I love my job!  There is nothing better than spending the day with 9 and 10 year olds.  I learn from my students each and every day and pride myself in being a life long learner.  Besides being a 4th grade teacher,  I am a daughter, sister, mother, and am proud to be a grandmother (MeeMee) to 4 beautiful grandchildren under 6 years of age.  I am excited to be starting a new year and I am looking forward to being your child's fourth grade teacher.  We will have a fabulous year!
